Emerging details indicate that City Lawyer Tom Ojienda was rendered unable just when one of Deputy President William Ruto's allies needed him most.

Ojienda was arrested outside Baclays Bank Building along Loita Street on Friday over allegations of graft touching on the staggering Mumias Sugar Company.

At almost the same time, husband to Nairobi Senator and a close ally of Ruto Sam Mburu was nabbed over an alleged Ksh64 million fraud.

Unknown to him that the lawyer was also in police hands, Mburu called Ojienda seeking his legal assistance but was told that the lawyer was in the same situation.

Ojienda told Mburu he was also under arrest and was arriving at DCI. He sounded shocked about the police move,” a witness told the Standard.

Ojienda is accused of among others, defrauding by he sugar miller, partially contributing by on it's collapse.

According to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) he faked court proceedings to defraud the company in legal fees.

Ironically, the two gentlemen would later meet again at the Muthaiga Police Station and have spent the last three nights and days together at the facility.

They are both set to be arraigned to face their charges today (Monday).
