A section of Mt. Kenya leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have dismissed Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria’s presidential bid asking him to keep off the race.
Led by Kiambu governor Ferdinard Waititu, the leaders declared their support to Deputy President William Ruto saying that was in line with the Jubilee party arrangements.
Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru and her Kirinyaga counterpart Purity Ngirici asked Kuria to shelve his 2022 presidential ambitions and support Ruto whom they expressed confidence in.
“Anyone who has presidential ambitions in 2022 should consider stepping down for William Ruto because that is our candidate for 2022 and we will support him until he wins,” said Ngurici as reported by Citizen Digital.
Waititu who has been on the forefront championing for Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid said it was clear Jubilee would support the second-in-command and that was DP Ruto.
“Kuria should stop confusing Kenyans with his ambitions that will not see the light of the day, it is clear as jubilee leaders we will support the Deputy President in 2022, any other arrangement will not be accepted,” said Waititu.
Kuria, however, told off the leaders saying he will not be stopped by anybody in his quest to serve Kenya as the Head of State.“I am not vying in your mother’s house to keep off,” responded the fiery legislator.
He stated that he would be announcing his party of choice soon to cement his resolve for the race.
The leaders were speaking in Nyeri during the second death anniversary of former Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua.
The event was also attended by William Ruto who steered clear of the discussion asking leaders to focus on implementing the Big Four Agenda.
