KPL defending champions Gor Mahia have qualified for the group stages of CAF Confederation Cup after holding Cameroon's New Stars De Doula to a barren draw, Sunday afternoon in Limbe.

K'Ogalo will thank their custodian Boniface Oluoch after an outstanding display in the second half that saw him thwart off New Star's concerted effort to just only get a single goal and qualify via an away goal rule.

But as fate would have it, Gor Mahia held on to the draw and qualified with a 2-1 win on aggregate.

It was a tricky affair for both teams as a goal for the hosts should have seen them through while a draw should have tilted the scales in favor of Kenyan giants.

And Gor had an uphill task to avoid conceding an away goal, a thing that they managed thanks to Boniface Oluoch' saves.

And at the blow of the final whistle; Gor Mahia breathed a sigh of relief as they progressed to the group stage for the second time in a row.

It was the first time in the seven seasons of CAF match for the Kenyan club to keep an away clean sheet even as New Stars rued their missed chances.

Gor will know its opponent after the group stage draw to be held in Cairo, Egypt.
