Political analyst Professor Edward Kisiangani has urged Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka to come out clear on his future political plans.
In a tweet on Saturday, the commentator took issue with the former Vice President's recent remarks regarding the proposed constitutional changes.
He said Kalonzo's Friday declaration that he would support a referendum to prolong President Uhuru Kenyatta's term is questionable and most likely deep rooted.
Kisiangani observed that the remarks might have been influenced by Uhuru himself, as they come only months after Kalonzo declared himself Uhuru's 'errand boy'.
He is now wondering where the declaration leaves Kalonzo's presidential bid, considering that he has repeatedly said he will run for the top seat in 2022 polls.
"During his Dad's funeral Kalonzo Musyoka announced he had become Uhuru's 'mtu wa mkono' (errand boy). Now it is being reported Kalonzo would not mind a constitutional referendum that would allow Uhuru to ran for a third term. So when does Kalonzo hope to be President?" wondered the professor.
However, Kalonzo has since cleared the air on his remarks, claiming that he never rooted for a third term for Uhuru.
Speaking during a funeral in Makueni on Saturday, Kalonzo said he was misquoted and his words taken out of context.
“When I say I mean it. When I said I have forgiven my brother Uhuru, I meant it but I did not say President Uhuru Kenyata should have a third term,” he was quoted by the Capital News.
Kisiangani was a resident political analyst at Citizen TV in the run up to the 2017 polls.
