Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' was among the delegation of elected leaders from Western Kenya that paid Deputy President William Ruto a visit on Wednesday.
The leaders visited Ruto at his Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu, in an event that with time transformed into a political function that saw Ruto open up on his 2022 plans after a long silence.
Ojaamong', a deemed ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga and a member of his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in a turn of events vowed to work with the DP going forward.
He hoped that their newfound collaboration will benefit his constituents through more development and funds trickling to the lowest levels.
“We are past party politics. We would want to see working relationships forged among leaders,” he was quoted by the People Daily.
The county boss lauded the introduction of devolution, noting that it has been very beneficial in equitable sharing of resources across the nation.
Ruto used the function to his out at his critics and rivals whom he accused of depending on endorsements to floor him in the 2022 presidential race.
Other leaders present included Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga and Kimilili lawmaker Didmus Barasa.
