Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has directed all building owners within the Central Business District in Nakuru to repaint them within three months.
On Thursday, Kinyanjui through the Nakuru Municipal Board ordered property owners to act accordingly, failure to which an unspecified action will be taken against them.
He said repainting the buildings will not only make them beautiful, but also uphold the high status of Nakuru County.
While repainting, the governor said owners should use white, blue, or pink paints.
“Pursuant to County Governments Act 2012, National Building Maintenance Policy and the Building Code, building owners are required to paint their premises,” the notice read in part as quoted by Standard.
The directive to repaint buildings with the CBD has been welcomed by the Nakuru Business Association.
However, the traders want the county to allow them use colours that reflect their products, and not limit them to the above mentioned colours.
The traders decried that different stakeholders were not involved in the selection of the colours to be used in the repainting exercise.
