Members of the Jubilee party allied to Deputy President William Ruto have insisted the Mt Kenya region owes him a political debt, which should be paid in 2022.
Speaking in Nyandarua County on Saturday, women leaders under the Inua Mama tag said President Uhuru Kenyatta's vow to back Ruto in 2022 and 2027 still stands.
Led by Kandara MP Alice Wahome, the leaders said since it is Uhuru who made the declaration and is yet to refute it, the DP should expect a repayment of the debt in 2022.
She said it is because of Uhuru's silence on the matter that they remain in support of the DP, as he is yet to hive further directions on the declaration.
“It is the President who said in public that he would lead the country for 10 years and then let Ruto lead us for other 10 years. We have not heard of him changing from that promise and that is why we still support Ruto,” she said.
She added that the group already considers the DP it's candidate and will be traversing the country in favour of his presidential ambitions.
At the same time, she observed that the group also stands for development and bettering the loves of Kenyans.
“This is a development focused group, which has its candidate for 2022. We will travel all over Kenya to seek support for the party’s presidential candidate,” she added.
