And in the process, his tactics have have often ruffled his critics, at times forcing them to bash him in social functions and even at Parliament or online.

In 2016 at Bartolimo in Baringo, Murkomen was involved in an ugly confrontation with area Senator Gideon Moi, who is also a critic of DP William Ruto.

Before the function for fundraising of a women group started, battle lines were drawn after Murkomen refused to greet then Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.

While speaking, Murkomen accused both Moi and Isaac Ruto of undermining Deputy President William Ruto, arguing that they should respect his position in the country.

"Senator Moi, there is something you have to learn from your father. When he was in power, he always asked people to respect one another. You have to respect William Ruto. Don't always attack him," he charged.

In a rejoinder, Moi who was the chief guest, dismissed Murkomen as a sycophant, arguing that he had no time to talk about or engage with Dr Ruto.

"Murkomen, even when we were at the Senate, he admitted to me that he's number one sycophant. How can I respect Ruto? I was chosen by Baringo people," he said.

After the function, the ugly scenes were taken to the air, with their respective pilots almost crashing on the scene. The helicopters are seen making sought of threatening moves towards each other.

Dr Ruto and Moi, just like their supporters, rarely see each other eye to eye. Last year, Murkomen accused Senator Moi of blocking the DP from vising retired President Daniel Moi.

The two have expressed interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta who retires in 2022. Ironically, both have a smooth working relationship with Uhuru.

Recently, Senator Gideon Moi was crowned a Sabout elder, a move that caused tension within Rift Valley. Ruto has controlled the region since 2007.
