Hours after declaring that he is considering throwing a hat in the ring, Mutua has said that he intends to conduct a campaign in a manner that will win the hearts and minds of Kenyans come 2022.

He insisted that he doesn’t intend to buy voters in order to ascend to power when that time comes.

He pledges to change the politics of this nation if he enters the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as he completes his second and final term in office. Makau insisted that he has enough sources of funding to mount a mother of all campaigns to win the seat.

"We have extensive networks of clean and uncorrupted resources, both financial and moral. But that's not our most important question. I don't intend to buy the election" he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Makau’s entry into the race could complicate matters for Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo who hails from his community.

Both leaders could share votes from their backyard. Deputy President William Ruto could have an added advantage to beat Kalonzo upon the entry of Makau, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest.
