Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has refuted claims that he is behind a plot by some Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to impeach Garissa Assembly Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Abass.
Duale says that the claims are malicious and meant to antagonise him with the Garissa County leadership.
According to Duale, he has no interests in the Garissa Assembly and executive activities.
In an interview with a local daily on Saturday, Duale said that he has a good relationship with Abass and the assembly and cannot be planning his ouster.
"It is malicous for some people to drag my name into dirty politics in the name of seeking popularity for themselves," he said.
Duale said that he is a principled politician and leader and would not want to see Garissa leaders divided.
He asked MCAs to work closely with the county executive for development.
A section of elders has blamed Duale for plotting for Abbas ouster.
Garissa MCAs are said to be divided on the alleged plot to oust Abbas.
A section of MCAs loyal to Governor Ali Korane is said to oppose the alleged plot to impeach Abbas.
