Speaking on Saturday, the National Assembly Minority Leader said that the poor development in the Luo speaking Nyanza counties is to blame on the election of technocrats as county bosses.

He said that such people should not find their way to the helm of either of the Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori and Siaya counties if the region is to develop and get a higher development ranking.

He now wants the electorate to elect pure politicians who were in one way or the other involved in the push for devolution, terming the technocrats as bad leaders.

“When the polls come, let us change the pattern. Let us look at the people who have fought for devolution. We went for managers but they have disappointed us, they have the skills to loot more than politicians,” he was quoted by the Standard.

He was speaking during the burial of Kefa Tuju, brother to Jubilee Secretary-General and Cabinet Secretary without portfolio Raphael Tuju in Rarieda, Siaya county.

This comes at a time when all the governors are on their second and final terms, except Kisumu's Anyang' Nyong'o, and are expected to be replaced by new ones in 2022.
