A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) named CitizenGo has written to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji, protesting the move by the DPP to ignore the charges related to the death of the 7-month-old baby the late Sharon Otieno was carrying.
According to the NGO, the governor should have been charged with double murder - that of the unborn baby and the mother.
In a letter obtained by various media houses, the NGO stated that: ''We have followed with keen interest the court proceedings today against the suspected killers of the late Sharon Otieno. We were surprised that the charge sheet presented in the courts had errors and also omitted the fact that Sharon’s baby, who was recently buried and named after her mother was also murdered.”
Prior postmortem had indicated that Sharon Otieno died of numerous stab wounds, an action which suggested that the killers wanted the baby dead too.
The governor denied the charges and is currently being held at the Industrial Area prison awaiting his bail hearing on Tuesday.
This comes at a time when many Kenyans on social media, including Sharon's family are demanding for the imprisonment of the governor as opposed to the court granting him bail.
