Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o on Friday hosted Uganda’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice President Mike Mukula in the county.
The event came as a turnaround on the county chief’s side, following his initial disagreement and disapproval of the ruling party chief Yoweri Museveni’s conduct.
‘’Welcoming my brother Uganda NRM Vice President, Captain @Mukulaa to the great county of Kisumu,’’ he tweeted.
This, however, comes only 2 years after Nyong’o took issue with Museveni after once again trouncing his sworn rival and opposition leader Kizza Besigye in the 2016 presidential race.
Nyong’o even gave a statement in parliament, calling upon Kenyans to reject the election outcome, after Besigye cried foul, alleging that the election was marred with rigging cases.
‘’The elections are only democratic in so far as Yoweri Museveni is concerned, he is on record saying that nobody should teach him about democracy. This is the kind of arrogance the big man in Africa that should have been left behind,’’ said the Governor.
The former Health Cabinet Minister was then the Senator for the same county.
His concerns were, however, met by an offensive from the NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba in a row that threatened to spark a diplomatic row.
