The politics of Uasin Gishu cannot be analyzed without the name Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki.
The popular business tycoon, who narrowly lost to Jackson Mandago in the 2017 gubernatorial race has made clear that he will vie for the seat again in 2022.
But the kind of political camps that have emerged in the North Rift especially the team 'Tanga Tanga' and 'Kieleweke' cannot go unnoticed.
It is evident that Buzeki is yet to take any side as far as the war of words between Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s camps are concerned.
The billionaire businessman has not come in public to attack any political camp. This is mainly because he doesn’t want sections of the Uasin Gishu electorate to lose confidence in him.
Uasin Gishu is a cosmopolitan county and a good number of people support either DP Ruto or Raila.
By taking sides in the ongoing Ruto-Raila cold war, it will mean that Buzeki will have to sacrifice a section of his ardent supporters.
That is something that his political advisors cannot allow him to do.
He just wants to stay relevant to the electorate of Uasin Gishu to ensure he easily succeeds Jackson Mandago.
