Chief detective George Kinoti says 'they have achieved threshold' need to prove that prime suspect in Monica Kimani's murder, Mr. Joseph Irungu alias Jowie was behind the gruesome death of the business woman.
This comes even as Mr. Irungu and his fiance Jacque Maribe were remanded awaiting hearing and determination of their bail application fate on Wednesday.
According to detectives, reports the nation, fingerprints dusted from Monica Kimani's wine glasses and furniture indicates that Mr. Irungu was in the deceased's house during the fateful night.
This corroborates evidence given by Monica's neighbours in Kilimani who identified Mr. Irungu, alias Jowie as the man who shared drinks with Monica before they left him in the house.
But it may take longer to ascertain biological identity of the killer given that the process is rigourous.
“It will take time before we can really ascertain the biological identity of the killer,” said a detective, who is privy to the investigation.
“We are relying on circumstantial evidence for now, but we have not been successful in getting any important information from the main suspect in our custody. He has not helped much. All he says is that he was not involved in the murder. He is very guarded.”

Clothes which Irungu reportedly put on during the murder were recovered at Jacque Maribe's home, with the couple's neighbour Brian Kassaine admitting that Irungu had asked for paraffin to 'burn disturbing clothes'.
