Active Citizens, a lobby group, wants Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu investigated over alleged fraud, nepotism and abuse of office.
The lobby says it has written to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti to have the speaker probed.
According to the lobby chairperson James Waigi, the Kiambu speaker allegedly carried out a direct procurement to hire a motor vehicle for his official use in total disregard of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act.
The lobby claims that after the direct procurement, the speaker failed to sign for the payment of Sh1.9 million for the Toyota Prado.
The lobby further accuses the Kiambu speaker of allegedly employing his daughter in the County Assembly Service Board as the personal assistant without declaring a conflict of interest.
Waigi further claimed that the said officer does not report to work yet she earns monthly salaries and allowances.
“We also want the DCI to probe the speaker’s academic qualifications,” Mr Waigi told journalists in Kiambu Town on Tuesday.
Ndichu has however rubbished the claims terming them as malicious reports aimed at tarnishing his image.
