A Human Rights activist-cum politician based in Gusii region has put Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on notice over increased cases of police officers harassing innocent and unarmed civilians.
Rachael Otundo, who doubles as the Gusii Governance Watch Secretary, said Matiang'i should intervene to ensure police officers are not using excessive force while discharging their duties.
She pointed out cases of police harassing bodaboda riders in Itumbe.
Ms Otundo appealed to Interior CS to move with speed and end police harassment if at all he is serious bringing reforms in the police boss.
"It is sad that we have not seen anything Matiang'i is doing to end police harassment. Let the Cs bring reforms in the police force because we don't want youths who have ventured into bodaboda business to continue being chased with police officers," she noted.
She hinted on a looming protests to push Matiang'i to wake up.
According to the vocal activist cum politician, Matiang'i has neglected Gusii people since he was appointed the Interior docket boss.
"Matiang'i should first streamline things at his backyard. All we want is the officers along Kisii-Nyamira road collecting bribes from motorists be delt with accordingly," she added.
She was speaking on Friday at Itumbe when she met with bodaboda riders.
