President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated that his government is committed to a 100% transition from primary school to secondary school.
Speaking at the Mang’u High School on Saturday during a prize giving day, the head of state said people should not worry about school’s capacity to accommodate learners.
“Let our children be in school, even if they will learn under the trees. Let them be in school first and we will settle the rest later,” Uhuru said.
The function was aired live by NTV.
The head of state lauded Mang’u for being the school where ‘most of Kenya’s impressive leaders passed through”.
“I want to laud this school for being the place where most of Kenya’s impressive leaders passed through such as former President Mwai Kibaki and our uncle Vice President Moody Awori,” Uhuru said.
The head of state also promised Mang’u Sh140 million which will be given in two financial years for the construction of a dormitory, ablution block, and classrooms.
Interestingly, the head of state ended the function without a mention of politics.
This is despite Kasarani MP Mercy Gakuya, Nyeri Town’s Ngunjiri Wambugu and Limuru’s Peter Mwathi having said they remain loyal to the President and support his war against graft.
