The Ultimate Varsity Awards (UVA) in collaboration with correspondents from Kenya Universities Students Association (KUSA) has released the list of top 100 most influential university students in Kenya.

The list features students in various occupations including; artists, student politicians, event organizers, entrepreneurs, models, social media influencers, vloggers, bloggers among others. 

According to Ferdinand Muganda who is the co-founder of UVA, the list was compiled from data collected in different universities and internet searches.

“The list was compiled through various correspondents in different universities across the country and internet searches. We did an average of an appearance of names from correspondents from a particular university then we ran google searches,” Muganda stated.

The Ultimate Varsity Awards began in 2017 where the first event was held at Moi University main campus.

The list of the top 100 most influential students in Kenya 2018/19 was compiled from the beginning of 2018 hence includes names of students who have so far graduated.

Moi University, in particular, managed to produce a good number of students who appeared on the list. 

Here are some of those students;

At the first place from Moi University is spoken word artist Willie Oeba who comes at number 6 on the list.

Oeba is not only an artist but also a radio presenter at 103.9 M.U FM, an event organizer, MC and TV show host. He has a lot of achievements and awards in his pocket including being named the East African king of the spoken word.

At the second place from the Kesses-based institution is Kepha Erick who ranks number 10 on the list.

Kepha is a seasoned campus politician and also the president of Africa Must Succeed (AMS) movement which is aimed at empowering youths especially those in the leadership position. 

He had shown intentions of vying for the chair of the 32nd Moi University Students Organization (MUSO) but mysteriously got out of the race.

At the 3rd place is former Secretary General of MUSO Moses Tisa. The young politician who is also the communications director in the Homabay governor Cyprian Awaiti’s office youth wing is probably one of the few Moi University student leaders who managed to bring transformation at the university.

One of his major achievement as the Secretary-General of MUSO is ensuring the accommodation of four cohorts by the school hence significantly reducing the time taken to finish the course. He also once managed to take part in a crisis dialogue that saw the lecturers call off their strike. Some of the hands that the young philanthropist who is currently sponsoring 3 university students and 3 high school students include; Amina Mohamed, Raila Odinga, Johnson Sakaja, Uasu Sec Gen Constantine Wesonga among others.

Other Moi University students that managed to make it on the list include Hesbon Ondari (was recently featured by Hivisasa in top 5 hottest men at Moi University), Janet Machuka, Ferdinand Muganda, Mayuu Sanaa, Ivy Aseka, Brian Sikulu, Betty Muzarika, Ronnie Chirchir among others.
