Machakos County Governor Dr.Alfred Nganga Mutua has said that unemployment rates among the youth can not be ignored.
Speaking on Monday through Facebook, the politician said it was time for leaders to entice investors into their regions.
"The high unemployment rates among the youth cannot be ignored. It is time for our leaders to take a proactive role in enticing investments to our regions as we continue to empower the youth through mentorship, technical skills and education," he said.
According to the vocal county boss, the role of the government is to facilitate businesses and not to frustrate them.
"I am happy that my government continues to foster investor confidence both locally and internationally," he went ahead.
He said this after meeting a delegation from Raysut cement companies led by Mr Al Rawas Khalid, Mr Shreyesh Daves, Mr Blswarup Kumar and Mr Bamousi Khalid from Oman who have decided to open a cement plant in Kithimani ward, Matuu in Yatta subcounty.
Mutua encouraged them to do business and invest in Machakos county. According to the governor who has shown interest for the country's top seat, the investments will improve the economy of Machakos bring jobs to the youth and put money in people's pockets.
