Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen’s remarks on the war against graft have not augured well with former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.

Murkomen had said that governors backing the handshake have not faced many tribulations compared to those against it.

He maintained that leaders who misuse public resources but are affiliated to the handshake are considered untouchable.

The Senate Majority Leader offered that leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been subjected to suffering because of their affiliation citing the case of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu who has been locked out of office because of graft charges.

“This is the TRUTH is [if] you are a governor you are about to be indicted for corruption, you just shout Wam(handshake)&they will respond (wam) BBI. You will be safe&you won’t be charged. Your file is waiting for the day you TangaTanga. Ask Waititu & Kasaine unconstitutionally out of office,” he said.

On Tuesday, Kabogo reminded Murkomen that double standards cannot be applied in the fight for justice.

The former governor wondered whether the senator had suggested that it is fine to steal if you belong to a specific camp.

“Are you suggesting it’s ok to steal? Anyone who’s suspected of stealing regardless of political affiliation should be dealt with judiciously,” he responded.
