Fourteen students from the Shimo la Tewa boys high school, Mombasa County, have been expelled over allegations of smoking bhang.
The school's principal, Mr Joseph Mwadime, said the action taken against the students was aimed at separating naughty students from the well behaved pack in the school.
"The students were caught smoking bhang in the dormitory as their colleagues were busy in class, an act that contravenes the school rules and regulations,” said Mwadime.
However, the students' parents cried foul, saying due process wasn't followed in expelling their sons.
The principal lashed out at the parents for condoning their sons' behaviour.
"They are spoiling their sons by covering their vices as they can turn out to be criminals. Instead of joining hands with us in molding their behaviour, they are busy attacking us,” said Mwadime.
He added: “We have information that most of the boys who were expelled steal money from their parents and visit night clubs. The school's name has been soiled by the lack of high discipline.”
