Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has confessed payment of Sh20 million to a company associated to Deputy President William Ruto in the NCPB scandal.

But Mr Murkomen, a close ally of the DP, insists that now law was breached by Mr Ruto, adding that he's entitled to farming.

"I wonder why we are debating about payments. He just supplied like any other person and was paid. We are dwelling on non issues.

"There is nothing criminal in supplying and getting your payments. We must rise above these petty politics," he said during at interview by Citizen TV.

The DP has come under scathing attacks with a section of Rift Valley leaders linking him directly to the maize farming stalemate.

But Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny, who also attended the interview, insisted that Ruto's supply was fraudulently thus the ongoing investigations by NCPB.

"Let's not lie to people. Koilel Farm Limited is owned by the DP. It's being investigated and that's why he's a person of interest. We can't confront facts," he added.

For the last one month, Ruto has been struggling to contain pressure from a section of local leaders and farmers over deteriorating maize farming business.
