Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has accused a section of Members of Parliament (MPs) aligned to the ODM Party of trying to create a political contest between Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga in Kibra.
Khalwale says the contest in Kibra is purely between candidates, and not between Ruto and Raila.
“There’s a deliberate effort by the Orange Democratic Movement to try and pull the Deputy President into Kibra so that they create a content between the Deputy President and the former Prime Minister. For God’s sake we will not take that invitation. The fight in Kibra is between the contestants,” said Khalwale.
The former Ikolomani MP accused the MPs among them James Nyikal of Seme, John Mbadi of Suba South, and Jared Okello of Nyando over what he termed as dragging tribalism into the Kibra by-election.
“They should give people of Kibra a break. The people of Kibra know their communities. All they are waiting for is to get an MP who will fix their youth for jobs, who will fix their water problem and who will fix their challenges on housing,” he added.
The by-election is set for November 7.
ODM’s Bernard Otieno Okoth, ANC’s Eliud Owalo, Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi and Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga are the front-runners.
