The former presenter died last week in Kisii after amputation of second leg following a battle with a disease for several years according to the family.

With the presence of thousands, organisers struggled to control the funeral as people struggled to listen to speeches of celebrities and politicians.

Some opted to crowd the nearby entry and roads with motorists forced to park distances away from the main funeral in Magwagwa ward.

ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire hailed radio fans for their organisation across Gusii, adding that it will be prudent if they register their movement.

"I have never seen such a multitude before. This is an indication that you are organised. As your leaders, we shall be ready to contribute for you when you register," he said.

"We came to mourn a hero who rocked our radios when disseminating news. Today, we shall not be involved in matters politics," added Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo.

Mr Onyamo, besides having been a radio presenter, may have also been mourned in style due to huge following of his children who are signers.

Fenny Kerubo is a groove award winner and is famous across Gusii. Her brother Dennis Onyamo is also a singer. Musicians were allowed to pay tributes on Friday.

Others who attended the burial were former West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami and a host of MCAs led by Mr Abel Mokaya, an ODM nominee.
