Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has called for an investigation into the death of nine black rhinos that had been moved to Tsavo National Park from Nakuru National Park.

Kinyanjui said the death of the rhinos is a cause of concern to his administration and environmentalists.

“We urge the government to establish the cause of the problem,” he said.

The governor termed the death as a drawback to the conservation of endangered animals.

Last week, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala announced the formation of a probe team headed by an officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
