Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Nyamira branch official Nicholas Nyang'au has slammed Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama over sacking of 500 ECDE teachers.

Nyang'au accused Governor Nyagarama for leading a government that is harassing teachers.  

"It is very sad that Governor Nyagarama's government has issued sacking letters to over 500 ECDE teachers. Despite the teachers working working for 7 months without payment, the county government has proceeded to intimidate and blackmail them" protested Nyang'au.

According to the official, the county boss is failing the people of Nyamira in matters education.

He warned the county leadership against sacking the ECDE teachers. 

"I appeal to the all ECDE teachers not to sign the sacking letters until the county government comes out clean on the matter. The teachers also deserve to get their 7 months payment because they have families to feed," he stated. 

He urged Nyagarama to get rid of corrupt officers in his government for the smooth running of operations in the developed unit failure to which the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party allied governor won't leave any legacy in 2022. 

Nyagarama is serving his second and last term after having successfully won the gubernatorial seat during the 2017 polls.
