Two MPs from the Ukambani region have criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta for halving the controversial fuel VAT from 16 to eight percent.
They are Patrick Makau (Mavoko) and his Makueni counterpart Daniel Maanzo.
Makau said he will not support the president's proposal when the parliament resumes on Tuesday.
"We are going to parliament to talk to president Kenyatta about the VAT. We do not want it, even if it's one percent," Makau said.
He addressed the public during a security meeting at Kyumbi town in his constituency on Sunday.
Makau said the president should zero-rate the VAT on fuel.
"We are telling him to withdraw everything. We want it at zero percent," Makau added.
Makau said the increment in fuel prices has led to inflation of prizes of almost all other goods and services in the country.
These sentiments were echoed by his Makueni counterpart Daniel Maanzo.
Speaking elsewhere in his constituency, Maanzo called on the government to find alternative methods of raising funds.
He said the money lost through corruption should be returned to the government to help in repaying our debts as a country.
Last week, Kenyatta rejected the Finance Bill, 2018 which proposed that the 16 percent tax on petroleum products be postponed until 2020.
The president instead proposed a decrease on the VAT by 50 percent, moving it from 16 - 8 percent.
