A woman was kicked out of her husband's home for allegedly practicing witchcraft.
Milkah Osumo was forcibly thrown out of her house by her brothers-in-law on Saturday in Nyamesocho village in Kisii County.
Locals said Ms. Osumo's husband Jared Osumo died three years ago after a short illness.
"Milkah has never known peace since her husband died. The family has been having wrangles over the deceased property to the extent they fixed Ms. Osumo claiming she is a witch and kicked her out so that they can inherit the property," said a local Catherine Kemunto.
According to Ms. Kemunto the woman was chased away from home with all her belongings and the two kids her husband left behind.
Johannes Ondoro, area assistant chief confirmed the incident and assured that he can't allow the woman to lose her husband's property to greedy brothers-in-law.
"The case has already been reported to my office and I will follow up the matter to ensure what belongs to the widow remains hers no matter what," he said.
Mr. Ondoro warned men to stop mistreating widows.
"Widows are protected by the law in this country and what belongs to them should be respected. The greedy men must produce evidence over the alleged witchcraft they claim the widow is practicing," he added.
