In an interesting twist of events since he took over office, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has admitted that he erred appointing deported lawyer Miguna Miguna to deputize him following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.

 Sonko said that he erred by not consulting Jubilee top brass before he announced the self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader as the deputy despite his frosty relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto. 

The governor has since shortlisted women for the post. They are business lady Agnes Kagure, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Lawyer Karen Nyamu and Jane Weru.

"I admit that I erred in nominating Miguna without consultation but I did it out of bitterness and anger. This time, however, I will appoint a deputy after consultations with the party are concluded," said Sonko. 

President Kenyatta, his deputy  Ruto, Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and, Nairobi County leadership among other leaders to determine the second in command at the county levelThe move by Sonko caused a storm in the county after the Jubilee top brass threatened to impeach him. 

Sonko, however, maintained that he had a right to choose anyone to be his deputy before he made a dramatic U-turn.
