An elderly man was on Monday arraigned before a Nairobi court for allegedly raping his granddaughter.
John Kasoloyi Nzoka, 71, was arraigned before Magistrate Hellen Okwani and charged with raping the 19-year-old, an offence that was allegedly committed in August last year.
The girl is reportedly said to be mentally challenged.
The court was told that the accused who was later arrested on June 30, 2019, sexually assaulted the victim in Mathare North, within Ruaraka.
He was charged with committing incest, which goes contrary to section 20(1) of the Sexual Offences Act.
The accused denied the charges and was released on Sh200, 000 bond with an alternative of Sh100, 000 cash bail, reports the

The 40-year-old man was charged with committing the crime when pupils had returned home for the April holidays in Saika Village, Umoja Three area.
While testifying in court, the victim told the court that her father started touching her private parts on April 9, and ended up raping her.
She said that he overpowered her when she tried to resist and repeated the same the next day before the girl notified her aunt who told the police.
