Five pupils from Misewani primary school in Masinga sub county sustained serious injuries on Friday morning  after their vehicle was involved in an accident along Thika- Garissa highway.

Yatta sub-county Police Commander Joseph Karanja confirmed the accident to the writer.

Njoroge said that the accident happened at around 6:50 am at Kwa Makaa area near Yatta Prison.

He said that the bus had 46 pupils and five teachers who were heading to Nairobi on a school trip.

The driver of the bus, he said, was unable to control the vehicle which veered off the road and rolled severally.

He said that the five kids who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Machakos County Referral Hospital after stabilization at Matuu local hospital.

"When the bus reached at Kwa Makaa, it lost control and rolled. Five pupils were referred to Machakos Hospital while 14 others were treated at Matuu level four hospital," said Karanja.

Matuu ward Member of County Assembly Judas Mbili Ndawa hailed doctors at Matuu Level 4 Hospital who offered emergency treatment.

He also called for fast-tracking of the construction of the casualty wing at the hospital.

"Thank you Matuu staff. You really worked as a team and handled the situation professionally. There is a need to fast track the construction of the casualty wing," said Ndawa.

The bus which was involved in the accident was towed to Matuu police station waiting inspection.
