Renowned digital strategist and blogger Dennis Itumbi has reacted to Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed's statement, labeling the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as the 'biggest party in the country'.
In a tweet on Wednesday night, Junet, who is ODM Director of Elections, argued his party has always attracted heavy criticism when it issues direct nomination tickets, since it was the most influential political outfit around.
He was reacting after Amani National Congress (ANC), which is led by former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, issued direct nomination ticket to former ODM boss Raila Odinga's aide, Eliud Owalo, to contest in the upcoming Kibra parliamentary by-election.
"When ANC party issues a direct ticket to a candidate its fine!! When ODM does the same its un democratic... Now I know why ODM is the biggest Party in the country . Let’s meet in Kibra," Junet tweeted.
Commenting on the tweet, Itumbi ridiculed the legislator, noting biggest parties do not compare or preoccupy themselves with activities of other parties they regard as small.
"Biggest parties do not bother compare themselves with parties they think are small. Or do they? Validation of democratic practice cannot come from the acts of smaller parties. Ama namna gani ndugu Hustla Junet," tweeted the digital strategist on Thursday.
