Three activists from Kisii County have threatened to sue Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital over controversy surrounding access to information on development projects.
Vincent Gekone, George Morara and Elikanah Nyandoro claimed in a letter that despite the facility receiving millions from government, only little has been done on the ground.
"The health sector specifically KTRH which receives millions is deplorable. There is nothing tangible to show on the ground," read the letter.
The three are now demanding certified copies of list of all the facility's development projects and medical supplies approved for the financial year 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18.
Also, they have demanded certified copies of list of all development projects and medical supplies of equipment undertaken, list of firms or contractors awarded tenders or contracts for development projects, and work completed in the years in question.
In the letter filed by Aboki Begi and Co Advocates, the three activists have further demanded certified copies of payment details for each project and medical supplies including but not limited to dates of payment to each firm or contractor, amount paid, project completion status and balances owed if any.
"The Administration has failed to provide all this information since April this year and we are moving to court next week," claimed Gekono on phone.
KTRH receives Sh500 million annually from the National Government for development. Until going to the press, efforts to get responses from the hospital's management did not bear fruits.
