For over two weeks now, Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s name has been on the lips of many Kenyans across the country after being linked to the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
There are those who have called for Obado’s immediate resignation, while his supporters maintain that he is innocent and should be released immediately.
Amid all this, one man has maintained complete silence on Governor Okoth Obado’s predicament.
That man is Migori County Deputy governor Nelson Mahanga Mwaita.
Mr Mwaita is a former officer of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).
He has remained silent all along, making it difficult for anyone to give an indication of his thoughts about allegations leveled against his boss.
Last week, Governor Obado’s executives released a statement urging residents to remain calm as the court process continues.
But Mr Mwaita is yet to give his independent stand about the whole situation.
After the arrest of Governor Obado last Friday, Mr Mahanga is technically and automatically in charge of operations in Migori County.
