Kisumu All Stars was on Saturday afternoon welcomed to the Kenya Premier League (KPL) with a 2-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Ulinzi's Enosh Ochieng scored both goals for the soldiers in the 46th and 53rd minute, to condemn coach Henry Omino led All Stars to defeat in their first match of a maiden appearance in the KPL.

All Stars was promoted from the second tier National Super League (NSL) alongside Wazito FC last season. 

Shortly after the Ulinzi game, KPL defending champions Gor Mahia took to the field against Tusker FC in what was expected to be a closely contested tie.

At the end of the match, Gor Mahia thrashed Tusker 5-2; courtesy of goals from captain Kenneth Muguna (scored two), Nicholas Kipkurui, Charles Momanyi and Boniface Omondi, while Boniface Muchiri’s two goals proved a consolation for Tusker FC.

Kisumu All Stars next game is away to Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) on September 14. 

The match will be played at the Machakos Stadium.

KCB opened the 2019/20 KPL season account with a resounding 3-0 win against Sony Sugar on Saturday. Gor Mahia’s next league match is against Chemelil Sugar at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, on September 14.
