A top government official had claimed that Mr. Nyaribo, who served as governor from May to July during the absence of his boss, had a failed kidney transplant in India.

"He had the first kidney transplant but it failed. He's undergoing the second one and hope it will succeed. He is likely to attend his brother's funeral," the source had said.

Since August, Nyaribo has been out of duty and has been under treatment in New Delhi, with sources intimidating that he has been hailing from kidney problems for long.

But according to him, he only underwent a kidney operation, disputing reports that he had a transplant.

"I was only operated on ans there was no transplant as the media is claiming. The rumour is being spread by some clique of people in government who fear my presence.

"Some of them are ghost workers who aim is to have me out. I am recuperating after the procedure and hopefully, I'll be back," he said.

Before his departure on August, Nyaribo has reignited power sharing tussle with his boss, insisting that the government should be on a 50-50 basis.

During Nyagarama's absence, Nyaribo initiated radical surgery that saw at least 50 people suspended over forgery.
