Speaking to Citizen TV’s Waihiga Mwaura on Monday night, Ochieng said that he will meet President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga if and when his role as an MP demands he does so.

“If the work I do as Member of Parliament requires that I meet President Uhuru Kenyatta, I will look for him and meet him. If it requires that I meet Raila Amollo Odinga, I will meet him. If it requires that I meet William Ruto, I will meet him tomorrow,” said the MP elect.

He said that he is willing to work with Siaya Governor Cornel Amoth Rasanga, despite the governor having been quoted saying that he will divert development initiatives planned for Ugenya constituency if the residents happen to elect a non-ODM candidate.

David Ochieng was elected Ugenya MP in a by-election held on Friday.

Vying on the Movement for Democracy and Growth party, he floored Orange Democratic Movement’s Chris Karan.

Ochieng garnered 18,730 against Karan’s 14,507 votes.
