News anchor Jacque Maribe wanted to end her romantic affair with murder suspect Joseph Irungu alias Joe Jowie, the anchor’s father has revealed.
The father, Maribe Mwangi, said the two had differences and his daughter wanted to cut her affair leading to an altercation.
The said altercation took place at an upmarket drinking joint where Maribe ‘embarrassed’ Jowie in front of her friends.
According to the father, Jowie shot himself when Maribe said she would ‘dump’ him.
“She asked Irungu to return her car keys and ATM card. Even when they went back to the house, Jacque threw some of his clothes out. The man threatened to kill himself after Jacque said she would leave him. He borrowed a gun and shot himself,” the father said.
A friend of Jacque at Royal Media Services also said Maribe had started seeing Jowie as a burden.
“He was being kept by Jacque. Those of us close to her were aware of her frustrations. She felt there is no way she could keep a man,” the friend said.
Jowie’s parents in Nakuru, also confirmed that their son had been living off a woman as he did not have a job.
“He told us he had moved in to Jacque’s house in Lang’ata where he was dropping the child to school and picking him as well as Jacque,” Jowie’s mother said on NTV’s exclusive interview on Sunday night.
