The entrance of Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga in the Kibra race is becoming a nightmare for the ODM party, political analyst Ambrose Weda has said.
For years, Kibra has been seen as ODM leader Raila Odinga's bedrock, but the party is appearing to be employing quite some effort to retain it, through its candidate Imran Okoth.
Weda opined that the entrance of Deputy President William Ruto in Mariga's campaigns has made ODM uneasy and has helped Mariga erase the thought that ODM has the final say in Kibra.
Speaking on Wednesday, Weda said that Ruto has finally made an access route into Raila's bedroom and is now walking in and out of the region at will.
This, he said in reference to the campaigns he has been holding in Kibra, the latest being at the Lindi Grounds on Sunday.
"Ruto has gone to Raila's bedroom and is walking up and down in there. He has managed something that not even President Uhuru Kenyatta would be expected to do," he said.
He made the remarks on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation show.
Weda observed that Jubilee has hit Kibra with a storm which will remain in the mouths of many, even in the instance that the party fails to clinch the seat after the November 7 mini poll.
He said that the ruling party has made things so complicated for ODM that Raila will be very relieved if he survives the onslaught.
"If he wins, he will sit down to thank God. But whether Mariga wins or not, the point will have been made," he added.
