The latter was found dangling from a rope in his parents' bedroom in their Kamwanga village home on Wednesday, after his parents had left for work.

16-year-old Wycliffe Omondi who is a form three student at Alara Mixed Secondary School had been sent home for fees on Tuesday and was scheduled to return on Wednesday noon.

The incident was confirmed by Rachar Sub Location administrator James Adika who added that the boy had been given the fees, which further trivializes his suicide.

He added that the deceased did not leave any suicide note behind.

"The boy was sent home for school fees but parents had given him money so that he could return to school. But he shocked everybody when the parents realised that he had committed suicide,” he was quoted by the Standard.

He added that the boy had been left alone at home while preparing to leave for school, with the Assistant Chief suspecting that he could be having some emotional issues.

Adika urged parents to talk to their parents in a friendly way to establish their personal issues, adding that he has since reported the issue to the police for investigations.

“Let parents talk with children in a friendly manner because this is the only way they can understand the minors’ personal problems,” he added.

Omondi's body was moved to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital for an autopsy test.
