A middle-aged woman is nursing injuries at Tabaka Hospital in South Mugirango, Kisii County after she was attacked by her co-wife.
The incident happened on Wednesday morning following a heated quarrel between the two women.
Area chief Joseph Nyanchoka Manoti confirmed the incident.
"Florence Moraa the elder wife, stormed Cynthia Kerubo's house at 7 am accusing her of not allowing their husband to visit her. Kerubo kicked her out prompting Moraa to fight back in self-defence," said Manoti.
The chief said their husband was not in the house when they were fighting.
He said Moraa overpowered Kerubo and bit her on the cheek.
"Energetic Moraa managed to bite Kerubo's cheek and fled after neighbours rushed to the homestead to rescue the victim," he noted.
Moraa's fleeing saved her from the wrath of angry neighbours.
"Members of the public rushed the victim to Tabaka Hospital where she is being treated while the suspect is being hunted down," he added.
The chief urged men who have married more than one wife to take responsibility for all their wives.
