Trouble could be brewing in Migori County in the ruin to the October 8 Senatorial by-election after area Governor Okoth Obado dismissed the decision by the ODM party to pick former MP Ochillo Ayacko as its candidate.

According to the Raila Odinga-led party, the outfit faced financial challenges to conduct nominations and hence its National Elections Board had to go to the boardroom to pick Ayacko to fly its flag.

However, the decision has received cold reception with Obado firing the first salvo.

While declaring that he would not back Ayacko’s candidature, the Governor claimed that the decision to pick the former Rongo MP was boardroom deal which he was not party to and hence would not throw his weight behind him.

"I cannot support a boardroom decision made by a few people in Nairobi," said Obado in his county on Friday as quoted by Nation.

Obado's comment comes barely two weeks after he reconciled with Ayacko during the funeral of former area Senator Ben Oluoch Okello, bringing to an end their past polarising political rivalry that shaped up 2017 election.
