The United States (US) has sent a team of 60 businessmen to Kenya for three-days to prepare for former president Barack Obama’s visit

The US delegation arrived in Kenya yesterday and are at the Kenya Airways headquarters in Nairobi, as confirmed by US embassy in Kenya.

“Gil Kaplan will be leading a 60 person delegation consisting of the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa, senior US Government officials and business executives to Kenya for trade engagements from today (Wednesday) to Friday, June 30,” read part of the embassy note on twitter. 

According to reports from the State House Deputy Spokesperson Kanze Dena, the US delegation is in Kenya to strengthen ties.

In a meeting that included the US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec, they discussed trade opportunities between the two countries.

The 60 members’ team included President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PACDBIA) and the senior government officials and business executives.

The delegates visit is just days away from the much awaited former US President Barack Obama visit. 

He will be expected in the country on July 16 for a one day visit then head to South Africa.
