Kisii county senator Sam Ongeri has said that Kisii region is reaping big following the historic handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Mr. Ongeri speaking at Kisii High school when he joined other leaders to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta who was in the county to commission various development projects said the handshake is benefiting Kisii residents.
"There is no doubt the handshake is working well for Kisii people. We must be happy because the President honoured an invitation to commission development projects at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital," he said.
He urged local leaders opposed to the handshake to consider supporting it since they will be irrelevant.
"Kisii residents have teamed up to support the handshake. Anyone opposed to it will be irrelevant in the regional politics," he added.
The ageing senator challenged politicians to fully support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which was initiated from the handshake.
"We must support Mr. Kenyatta and our ODM party leader Raila Odinga to spread peace across the country. Kenyans don't need politics but, development," said Ongeri.
