The controversial county chief is considered the chief rebel in the Luo Nyanza region.

This is courtesy of his opposition which first played out when he rejected Raila's Orange party's nomination of former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko to vie for the vacant Migori senatorial seat.

Earlier in the month, he hosted Deputy President William Ruto who is also Raila's chief political nemesis in his county, a move that to many, was a validation that he has since ditched the former Premier.

However, he seems to have slowed down over the last few weeks, probably as a result of fear of Raila.

Before his latest arrest over gun-related allegations, Obado was heard lamenting that some people wanted to throw him to the crocodiles.

A rather similar remark came from his relatives who accused Raila of 'spearheading' his recurrent arrests.

It seems the Governor is convinced that Raila is the man behind his woes, and to avoid more friction and harassments, has decided to save himself from more trouble by lying low.

Also, in a region dominated by the ODM party, he has realised that what awaits him is endless battles with the majority leaders allied to Odinga should he not behave.

And to allocate himself time to work on his legacy, being on his second and last term, it would be wise to act as if he has reformed, until he has realised his manifesto.

failure to this, he will go down as just another Governor who came and went, leaving the county as he found it.

Finally, coming at a time when the county ODM disciplinary committee has proposed his ouster from the party, the worst thing he can do is continue with his rebellious activities.

As a troublesome member, he knows that the party will not hesitate to have him ousted, calling for another election for his slot.

And having been at loggerheads with Raila, the influential leader will most likely root for another candidate, a factor that would see him sent home in the middle of his second term.

Also, it is possible that he is still waiting for the next perfect opportunity to attack again.
