President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced the establishment of Biashara Centers across the entire nation.
In a State of the Nation address from Mombasa on Tuesday, Uhuru said that his government is committed to ensuring that the economy is growing.
The head of state said that he will support investors in different sectors by putting in place measures to support their growth.
“In line also with one of the recommendations for policy change in the BBI report, Biashara Centres will be established across the country to provide a huduma type of one-stop shop to provide business development services under one roof," he said.
The President also directed Central Bank of Kenya to work around the clock to ensure that policies are adopted to prevent dubious lending schemes. He urged the banks to offer affordable loans to Kenyans.
“I urge the Central Bank of Kenya to use the full range of instruments of regulation and policy at its disposal to prevent predatory lending and to ensure banks can offer loans at affordable interest rates” he added.
The President assured farmers that he will also support them to benefit from their sweat.
“My second intent for the year is to increase the money in the pocket of our farmers and I believe this will be achieved by directing our anti-corruption efforts against those managing the agricultural sector & exploiting their position for illegal gain," he said.
