Education Minister Professor George Magoha has intimated that the government is committed to ensuring security to every Kenyan.
Speaking on Machakos on Tuesday, Magoha stated that the attack on teachers in Garissa will be thoroughly investigated.
He insisted that the residents in the area should be interrogated concerning the attack.
"The government is willing and ready to protect every Kenyan without favour. Our teachers should also enjoy the same protection," said Magoha.
"I do not believe that terrorists can come out of nowhere and the local community must be interrogated because teachers have to teach anywhere they have been posted," he added.
Magoha encouraged teachers working in hardship areas not to live in fear since it wasn't up to them to decide where and when to die.
He said the residents in Garissa should have protected the teachers from the attack since they had sacrificed to be there.
"We can't be afraid this is our country. The Somali border is very far from where the attack was done so some of the locals must be answerable. If I'm posted to Mandera now I will go there and with Christ at the front and the back. Let the teachers remain, you may think you're coming to relative safety and die in bed." he said.
He observed that justice will be served to the slain teachers stating that religion won't be used to kill people who have no mistake.
