Speaking on Monday at a funeral in Motonto, Kitutu Chache North, the Ford Kenya party allied MP said despite the fact that residents want him to contest, he is still calculating his steps.

"I have been going round in Kitutu and several people want me to run for governor in 2022. I wish to confirm that I am not in a hurry to contest for the top seat. I urge Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi to talk to me very well to get my support in 2022,” said the vocal lawmaker.

Onyonka who ditched ODM during the 2017 polls for Ford Kenya said he is now focused on delivering his campaign promises to the people of Kitutu Chache South constituency.

"I do not want to have excuses in 2022 to my people as to why I have not delivered. I urge other elected leaders to focus on serving the electorate before discussing about 2022 polls," stated Onyonka.
