Khagendra Thapa Magar, the world's shortest man according to the Guinness World Book of Records has been pronounced dead at 27.
Magar breathed his last after a bout of pneumonia, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported.
"He has been in and out of hospital because of pneumonia. But this time his heart was also affected. He passed away today," Mahesh Thapa Magar, his brother said as quoted by Aljazeera.
Officials at the Guinness World Book of Records reacted to the news of Mr Khagendra Thapa Magar.
"We're terribly sad to hear the news from Nepal that Khagendra is no longer with us," said Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief, as quoted by Aljazeera.
"Life can be challenging when you weigh just six kilograms and you don't fit into a world built for the average person. But Khagendra certainly didn't let his small size stop him from getting the most out of life" he added.
During his life, he traveled to more than a dozen countries and made a number of television appearances in the United States of America and Europe.
He measured measured 67.08cm (two feet and 2.41 inches).
"I don't consider myself to be a small man. I'm a big man. I hope that having this title enables me to prove it and get a proper house for me and my family," he loved to say according to the BBC.
